What is Certificate Automation?
Certificate Automation Fact Sheet
Certificate automation refers to the process of automating the generation, issuance, and management of digital certificates. Digital certificates are used to verify the authenticity and security of websites, software, and online transactions. By automating the certificate lifecycle, organisations can streamline the issuance process, reduce manual errors, and ensure timely certificate renewals. These tools can integrate with certificate authorities (CAs) and public key infrastructure (PKI) systems, enabling automated certificate provisioning, renewal, and revocation. They can also provide centralised monitoring and management of certificates, simplifying the task of tracking expiration dates and maintaining security.
With certificate automation, organisations can enhance security, improve operational efficiency, and maintain compliance with industry standards and best practices.
The next generation of Certificate Automation
Cogito’s Certificate Automation Services prevent certificate outages and makes life easier for the business and its employees. Cogito’s solution simplifies the requesting and issuing of certificates. Most certificates are automated, but users will receive notifications about the expiry of any non-automated certificates.
The Cogito Group certificate automation service:
• Verifies and secures the details within certificate requests.
• Monitors and reports on certificates under management throughout their lifetime.
• Automatically discovers unmanaged certificates and bring them under management
• Automates the issuance and renewal of certificates wherever possible and appropriate.
Auto-Enrolment
Auto-enrolment is a Windows-specific protocol that allows Microsoft Windows devices to automate deployment of certificates at an Active Directory domain level. This protocol not only covers renewal but also new requests as the client is informed of the need to request a certificate when it joins a domain through Group Policy.
